NEWS ANALYSIS; Giving Reins To the States Over Drilling
By proposing to end a century of federal control over oil and gas drilling and coal mining on government lands, Mitt Romney is making a bid for anti-Washington voters in key Western states while dangling the promise of a big reward to major campaign supporters from the energy industry. Mr. Romneys plan, which would turn over decision-making on - News analysis; Mitt Romneys energy plan would turn over decision-making on oil and gas drilling and coal mining to states, ending a century of federal control over drilling and mining on government lands; move is a bid to capture western voters and energy industry supporters, and an effort to merge energy and economic policy in a way that causes voters see increased energy production as a pocketbook issue. Do you admire Romneys "If you got it, flaunt it" behavior?
(Credit: AP/Charles Dharapak/Salon/Benjamin Wheelock)
Could there be a better example of super-rich arrogance than the image of millionaire Romney donors partying on a mega-yacht registered — for tax avoidance reasons — in the Cayman islands… during the Republican convention? Come on — simply as metaphor, the very notion reeks so egregiously of entitlement and elitism that one can’t imagine Romney’s campaign managers allowing such a thing to happen. Right?
But ABC News has the scoop, and it’s a good one:
Gov. Mitt Romney’s campaign toasted its top donors Wednesday aboard a 150-foot yacht flying the flag of the Cayman Islands…. The event, attended by no more than 50 people, along with Romney relatives, including older brother Scott, appeared on no public calendars…. The Cracker Bay is owned by Gary Morse, developer of the Villages retirement community. Companies controlled by Morse gave nearly $1 million to the pro-Romney Restore Our Future superPAC. Registered in the Caymans, the Cracker Bay has an impressive art collection and can seat 30 for dinner.
There’s only one reason why millionaires register their mega-yachts in the Cayman Islands — and it’s the very same reason why Mitt Romney has offshore accounts registered there. Taxes — or, more accurately, the lack thereof. It makes a perfect kind of sense. Millionaires want to help Romney get elected because not only will that prevent Obama from raising their taxes, but it could well result in their current tax burden falling even further. So there’s a beautiful honesty in gathering together on a yacht that pays no U.S. taxes — see, America, this is what we’re all about.
You just have to wonder what the original Tea Party patriots would have thought of such behavior. Wouldn’t the proper response be to dump the millionaire donors into Tampa Bay — on the charge that these moguls are seeking representation, without taxation!? But the partisan divide in the U.S. is so deep and strong right now that it’s hard to imagine anything changing minds right now. We already knew that Romney is a very rich man whose administration will be devoted to protecting the interests of very rich men. Now we know that he’s not even trying to hide it.
Answer: No, I do not, but at least his "if you got it, flaunt it" behavior isn't the same kind as Ulla's from The Producers.

Why are Mitt Romney, Fox News & conservatives lying? President Obama hates corporations?
Here’s the full context of what he said:
We’ve already made a trillion dollars’ worth of cuts. We can make some more cuts in programs that don’t work, and make government work more efficiently…We can make another trillion or trillion-two, and what we then do is ask for the wealthy to pay a little bit more …
There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me, because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t -look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something – there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business. you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.
The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.
So we say to ourselves, ever since the founding of this country, you know what, there are some things we do better together. That’s how we funded the GI Bill. That’s how we created the middle class. That’s how we built the Golden Gate Bridge or the Hoover Dam. That’s how we invented the Internet. That’s how we sent a man to the moon. We rise or fall together as one nation and as one people, and that’s the reason I’m running for president – because I still believe in that idea. You’re not on your own, we’re in this together.”

If Romneys elected will Obama have to use the color bathroom with the rest of the color folk?
I mean seriously not just to stir up resentment of how black folks were treated in the past but wouldnt a Romney President set civil rights progress back 50 years. Can you imagine Romney appointing two more conservative judges to SCOTUS and undo Roe v. Wade, Minimum Wage, The EEOC, The Affordable Care Act which includes The Education Reconciliation Act of 2009, and even more importantly the Voters Right Act of 1965 which is crucial to a huge proportion of our country in participating in the election process.
I mean isnt the voter suppression laws being implemented by Republicans all over the country appalling. The fact that some Republican districts refuse to send voter registration forms out to any person who didnt vote in the last election but had voted in all other elections before 2008. Then theirs the Ohio secretary of state who casted the deciding vote to allow early voting Republican districts and eliminate it in Democratic districts. In Pennsylvania the Secretary of State speaking to a conservative audience boasted that Voter ID is going to allow Mitt Romney to win his state. One district in Pennsylvania is estimated to have upwards of 500, 000 residents who would be directly effected by these voter suppression measures many of whom are either seniors, disables, or poor or a combination of both. Many are out of town residents who would have to either return to the place they were born or pay to have their birth certificate mailed to them via internet (if applicable in that state) which isnt cheap.
I myself am someone who was born in Michigan but have now lived in Missouri most of my life and just last year had to pay online for my birth certificate to be mailed to me and it cost me $65 on my credit card. The Voters Right Act of 1965 strictly prohibits any poll taxes on any citizens ability to vote in elections. And last but not least in Texas Republican officials have written the Voter ID law there so strategically diabolical and surgical that it would allow citizens with gun licenses to vote at the polls but deny students to use their college IDs. This is absurdly unpatriotic. Wouldnt a Romney presidency set America back tremendously. Do we really want to let another guy in office who cheated. Dont we remember what happened to this country the last time we let a President in office who cheated. Hmm! Hmm! Bush!

Mitt Romney says entrepreneurs need government to start businesses
http://www.dailykos.com/story/2012/07/18/1111399/-Mitt-Romney-says-entrepreneurs-need-government-to-start-businesses
Imagine if President Obama said this:
There are a lot of people in government who help us and allow us to have an economy that works and allow entrepenuers and business leaders of various kinds to start businesses and create jobs. We all recognize that. Thats an important thing.
Or if he said this:
I know that you recognize that a lot of people help you in a business. Perhaps the banks, the investors. Theres no question your mom and dad. Your school teachers. The people that provide roads, the fire, and the police. A lot of people help.
Republicans would go nuts, right? Fox would go on a 72 hour nonstop bender on the evils of Obamas socialism. Rupert Murdoch would be tweeting in fear from the safety of Dick Cheneys bunker.
But those arent President Obamas words. Theyre Mitt Romneys. And they arent from a few weeks ago or a few months ago or a few years ago. He said them today, and he said them while falsely accusing the president of having said that "if youve got a business, you didnt build that." President Obama said no such thing. His actual words:
Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business—you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.
Answer: Team Romney is getting desperate. They want to distract from the fact that Romney will not release his tax returns. So they took a quote Obama made and are twisting it out of context.
If this is how Romney wants to play it, Obama's team should come out and say "Romney believes that teachers haven't helped a single small business owner succeed in life. Romney believes that firefighters haven't helped protect small businesses from burning to the ground. Romney believes that Police deserve no credit for keeping businesses safe from theft. Romney believes that business owners should pay zero tax because their tax dollars have done nothing to help them succeed." etc.

Does the Republican establishment want Romney to lose and let Obama win?
If Paul Ryan does turn out to be the Vice Presidential nominee (which many strong sources are saying), I cant imagine that the Republican establishment is serious about Romney anymore. It just doesnt make sense. Paul Ryan is a HOUSE member, and not even a Speaker or anything of high leadership. Paul Ryan benefits from all the exposure, but Paul Ryan doesnt care if he loses the election. Mitt Romney has chosen someone who doesnt care if Romney wins or lose. If he had chosen Marco Rubio, you better believe Rubio would not have joined a ticket he thought he could lose, because you can tell Rubio is serious about someday being a Presidential candidate in a way that Ryan is not. The Republican establishment knows this as well. Its not like Rubio and the establishment is going to let this all slide and just forget about their own ambitions.
Not only that, but think about the foreign policy. Romney proved to be disastrous when it comes to having knowledge about how to handle foreign affairs. In the eyes of conservatives officials, Obama may be worth keeping over Romney, for this reason alone.
I think the Republicans would be in a much stronger position if Obama were allowed to do his 4 years, and continue to get a Republican House and/or Congress that tries to oppose him and make Obamas 8 years look like a failure. After that, not only will Democrats not have the Obama machine (who at this point is the only powerful Democrat leader), but also they will have a bad economy, which would make the country want to vote for a Republican President.
Answer: The republican establishment doesn't care whether if Obama or Romney wins they just want Ron Paul out of the picture.

HIGH & LOW FINANCE; Romney Paid More Than He Owed
Mitt Romneys tax returns tell us some things about him. They tell us a lot more about the sad state of the tax laws in this country.
