IN SEARCH OF GEORGE BUSH
LEAD: A CRACKLING FIRE warmed the White House office of the Vice President this raw winter day, complementing the deep wood tones, the rich Oriental rugs and the family photographs. Sprawled in a chair, George Bush contemplated a question: How would his leadership differ from that of his chief rival for the Republican Presidential nomination, - By Randall Rothenberg; Randall Rothenberg is an editor for this Magazine and the author of The Neoliberals: Creating The New American Politics.

Was Ron Pauls excuse for not releasing his tax returns pretty lame.?
He said he did not want to release soon caused he felt he might be embarrassed when compared to the big incomes of the other three candidates. then again he might have been joking, who knows.
Answer: There's no rule or law that candidates must release their tax returns. People act like it's a requirement, and if a candidate refuses, or even just delays, he should go to jail or something. But only the candidate they don't like.
In many ways Paul is the un-candidate. He doesn't expect to get elected so he has the luxury of saying what he thinks. He believes in protecting the privacy of the individual from the govt, and the public.
Also a straight answer helps him, even a straight refusal I think. Romney was asked the question and he dithered and mumbled for two or three minutes before saying yes, he would release his tax returns but not right away and he wouldn't say when. He really looked like someone who felt he had something to hide. He's probably the richest man in the race, but he's spent a lot of time and effort trying to convince people he's just like them, he's middle class and worries about getting a pink slip. 8^P It would have looked better if he had just come out and said "That's none of your damn business!"

Can anybody explain to me why the economy is recovering so slowly? Not whose fault it is, but why?
I dont want to hear that its the companies faults, or Obamas fault, or congress fault, I want to hear that this is happening, having this cause on this part of the country, which is reducing the this... etc. Talk to me like I dont even know what politics is, I want you all to pretend youre mechanics explaining a broken piece of machinery. Not like Im a voter who needs swaying.
And I dont expect you all to write me a research paper, but a number or two to put up to your claims would be nice.
Answer: President Obama’s only claim to reelection is that he and his team steadied America during its time of economic uncertainty and are, albeit slowly, growing the economy. Friday’s anemic jobs numbers show that in fact the economy is not recovering, but rather, unfortunately slipping away, and with the state of the race as it is, the election possibly, irrevocably, too.
In February of 2012, we added 227,000 new jobs, revised upward from 210,000. Things looked good for the economy and Obama’s reelection prospects.
But since then things have gone downhill.
Friday we discovered that in March we created 143,000 new jobs, 10,000 less than we originally thought. Not robust growth, but certainly no cause for panic. In April, however, we added just 77,000 new jobs, a figure that has been revised downward from 115,000.
In May we netted just 69,000 jobs, revised downward from a projected 150,000. Further bad news, the unemployment rate has climbed up to 8.2%. I think both my fellow Americans, and especially the Obama administration, have cause to worry.
Today’s lackluster jobs figures are symptomatic of a weak economy, and that’s disquieting for all Americans. But with several new polls being released recently which show the president virtually tied with Romney in three crucial swing states (Colorado, Iowa, and Nevada), this is especially troubling for the Obama reelection team.
An obvious observation: a best-fit line showing the amount of jobs created would be going downward, steeply. Another observation: if one were to draw a best-fit line through Obama’s poll numbers in the three states mentioned above, it too would be going downward. Romney’s go up.
The three are most definitely intertwined.
The president and his team have been campaigning as our economic saviors, throwing around counterfactuals and speculations about how bad things could have been. The problem with that, highlighted by the recent economic data, is that things are already pretty bad.
You cannot campaign that you are saving the economy if the unemployment rate goes up, and, when it goes down, only offer a weak explanation that it's because Americans are losing hope and dropping out of the labor force.
The latest poll numbers signal a shift in the race: the American people see that Obama and his team are no longer presiding over a recovery, and are in fact incapable of doing so. This spells disaster for the president.
The economy is weak. Americans no longer see him as the man capable of fixing this. All this is reflected in the polls. If Romney can take advantage of this shifting momentum, he may begin to dramatically pull ahead in the race for the White House.

Literary Brooklyn Gets Its Leading Man
ON a late afternoon in May, Martin Amis gestured toward the tall, sun-filled parlor windows of his Brooklyn brownstone. Out there, its Arcadian, he said. Its prelapsarian. Its like living in the 50s. The 63-year-old author was wearing a frayed pink shirt, black pants and black boots. Is Gingrich any different from 0bama?
Isnt this an example of the thug tactics Republicans accuse 0bama of?
WINDERMERE, Fla.--Next time, Eddie Dillard wont wear flip-flops.
Dillard, a 29-year-old Ron Paul supporter from this suburb near Orlando, arrived to vote at his precinct at Winderemere Baptist Church early Tuesday morning. Pulling into the parking lot, Dillard noticed a man outside the polling place with a Gingrich sign. He decided to run home, slip into his "Ron Paul Rocks America" T-shirt, grab a "Ron Paul 2012" sign from his garage, and return to give his candidate some representation outside the precinct after he cast his vote.
Dillard found a quiet spot along a sidewalk lined with tiny American flags and held up his sign. Little did he know, Newt Gingrich had chosen that very spot to make his first Primary Day campaign stop.
When Gingrichs bus pulled up, Dillard stood silently holding his sign and watched the news-media horde swamp the candidate. Gingrich stepped down from the bus and made a beeline for Dillard. He stopped in front of Dillard and his sign and parked himself for a round of handshaking and pictures with voters. The placement couldnt have been worse. There was Gingrich, standing with his wife Callista at their first event of the day, and a giant Ron Paul sign floated inches from their crowns.
Noticing the awkward optics, Gingrich aides and security personnel swarmed Dillard, trying to intimidate him into moving. One of Gingrichs security agents stepped in front of him. When Dillard didnt budge, the agent lifted his heeled shoe over Dillards bare foot and dug the back of it into his skin, twisting it side-to-side like he was stomping out a cigarette. Shocked, Dillard kept his ground and took a picture of the agent with his phone, which was quickly knocked out of his hand. Dillard slipped off his flip-flop to pick up the phone with his foot, and a Gingrich supporter kicked the sandal away.
"Dont kick me!" Dillard said to the man who knocked away his sandal. More members of Gingrichs security retinue approached, shoving their shoulders and chests in front of him.
"Just block him!" a Gingrich campaign aide said. "Everyone step on his toes!"
Gingrich supporters handed a "Newt 2012" yard sign up to the front to put in front of Dillards Paul sign. The two signs, zipping back and forth inches from Gingrichs head, circled each other in the air like fighter jets in a dogfight.
When the candidate finished taking pictures with voters, furious Gingrich aides grilled Dillard.
"If we did this to you, you guys would be furious," said an aide before stomping back toward the bus. "They have no class. No class."
As Gingrich pulled away, Dillard looked down at his foot. With the adrenaline pumping, he hadnt noticed the pain, but now it was starting to sink in. A bruise was forming, and there was a cut mark where the security agent had dug in his heel.
"That was really something," Dillard said afterwards. "My hearts racing. Not what I expected to happen today."
Answer: Gingrich = Romney = Obama = Santorum
It's all the same BS.
Ron Paul is my man.

Why are conservatives obsessing on what Samuel L. Jackson said?
Did conservatives also read that Jackson said? “I voted for Barack because he was black. ’Cuz that’s why other folks vote for other people — because they look like them,” the actor recently told Ebony magazine via Page Six.
Answer: This is nothing new. SLJ said the same thing back in 2008 and he's not the spoke person for all black people. Some will and didn't not vote for President Obama because of his race. Some people won't see a doctor unless they're white. Some people have that mentality if it's not white it's not right. Cons are obsessing because they don't people to vote for President Obama. They're scared. Forty-three presidents have been whites. Having a black president, is making some whites goes crazy. Obama-haters are still bitter and mad that they lost in 2008. Many believe that only whites should be president and live in the white house. They believe that white supremacy is slipping away. By year 2050, whites will be the minority. Be truthful. Let's see. If there is a choice between a white guy, Mitt Romney, or Marco Rubio for president. Who do you think Hispanics will vote for? That's why the GOP is so in love with Rubio to attract the Hispanic vote.
