Answer: Obama Hussein and his army of red coats are trying to force us to live under the exact tyranny that our for father fought so hard against, in order for America to become a free nation. Not even within 24hrs of the election Mr. Hussein started talks to disarm America with the U.N. and Dianne Fienstien started an outline of a weapons ban and confiscation. Our fore father had established a set of rules to protect our Natural God Given Rights that shall not be infringed upon and now that the tyrant is back in power he is trying to bring America back to the 1770's . America is transforming into the new Soviet Union and North Korea, because the tyrant in office and his un-patriotic party is destroying our 14th (right to carry and defend) 10th( purchase ammo) and 2nd (right to bear arms) amendment rights and they have essentially ran over our constitution with a lawn mower, soaked it in gasoline and use it to start a bon fire in order to ban and confiscate all guns from law biding citizens. As an American it is our duty to stand up to such tyranny. If/when the time comes you have two options: 1. Fight your country and freedom or 2. Answer: Back when the Crime bill was passed (contained the assault weapons ban) the Democrats received a rude awakening as they lost control of both the House of Reps and the Senate because the assault weapons bill was passed. Clinton assured his fellow Democrats that this is the time to get real strong GC legislation passed and they did, in kind. The Assault Weapons Ban was watered way down to get the votes needed to pass and an expiration date was installed. Now it has expired and was not extended by G.W. Bush. BTW, even the powerful Speaker of the House Tom Foley lost his Congressional in that turnover of Congress, many other long standing Democratic leaders lost their respective seats. The Democrats took a beating that they never want to repeat, so they won't be proposing any such super restrictive legislation anytime soon. When Pelosi took control of the Speakership she quickly learned very early that her fellow democrats though they controlled the House and Senate that the Democratically controlled Congress would not back such a loosing legislation as Obama learned as well. Obama's entire cabinet and long list of advisors are almost to a man/woman very pro GC and anti Second Amendment of the US Constitution as is the present Attorney General Eric Holder. I am sure that GC has been discussed in the White House the past day or two since the heinous Tucson murders as it has since Jan. 20, 2008. I am also sure they would like to ban guns in private citizens hands but they are powerless to do so as it would never pass in the present Congress. Which leads me to trust the framers of our precious US Constitution and the many built in checks and balances including the Second Amendment to the Constitution. If in the future any congressmen/woman that are pro GC and attempt to put forth such legislation will be quickly voted out in large blocks. The attitude of the nation because of the high crime rate and the Second Amendment to the Constitution is not even slightly pro GC. Only a very small but very vocal crowd is pro GC and the media follow them around like a fly follows a cow. The media is very pro GC and promote GC at every turn, yet they cannot understand the average Joe's opinion. The media knows what is best for the country and they promote it until we are sick of it (at least they think they know what is good for our country). Some politicians are also pro GC, the president for example and he knows he is already in for a fight just to get the Democratic nomination in 2012 he will need to get lucky. With this in mind Obama very well may see a good opportunity to attempt such legislation even though it will never pass the Republican controlled House, while the Senate Democrats don't want to loose more seats in the next go around. Obama may not run for another term, or may not get the Democratic nomination and if he is the democratic candidate he more than likely will not win a second term, so he may try for a strong GC bill perhaps banning some or even all firearms in the hands of the public. Why do people assume that Democrats want gun control?

Why do people say that Obama and the democrats want all the gun control. Im a democrat, and I think that concealed carry bans should be struck down all over the country, and I dont support the reinstating of Federal Assault Weapons ban. Gun Control doesnt work. If criminals need guns, automatic or semi-automatic they will get them. Also, for all the "Obamas going to take our guns away!" people, why hasnt he attempted to reinstate the Federal Assault Weapons ban?
Answer: Most do, but not all. Just as most Republicans oppose gay marriage and more reasonable tax treatment for the super-wealthy, but not all. There are a lot of back-door ways to prevent people from acquiring firearms. Some states and cities have instituted exorbitant ammunition taxes, while others enforce certain laws regarding purchasing, carrying, or using firearms abusively to make ownership a huge legal risk. Another example would be international treaties, though treaties are subject to the same constitutional review as traditional legislation. Obama probably hasn't tried to do it directly because while he may be clueless on actual governance, he is a shrewd politician and legal tactician. He is probably trying to use other means aside from pure legislation to accomplish the same or similar objectives.

Americans should not be able to own assault weapons?

I spoke to a Marine who came back from Iraq and Im wondering why he believes that American citizens should not be able to own AR-15s, AK-47s, G3s, FALs, and other such rifles. Im wondering why would a Marine say such things, should American citizens be able to purchase and own an AR-15, AK-47, and such other rifles? He also said that he supports Obamas assault weapons ban? Why?
Answer: I own several rifles "that are magazine fed" and are certainly not assault rifles....bolt actions. AR is nothing more than a designation for a rifle platform, bolt,lever,pump, and AR. It has been America's rifle platform for the last 40 some odd years. The AR platform is a very reliable and accurate rifle, for hunting, varminting. I own no AR's, my thing is " AT&T shooting" reaching out and touching people/animals long distance, I much prefer a bolt for that....the AR's are almost as accurate...just a preference. The Marine was referring to auto rifles, not semi's.....understand that he just came from a nation where its people (citizens) own auto's. Having said that , I'm quite sure he's faced the business end of many of those rifles. The iraqi's have a firm belief in "spray and pray". Obama's assault ban policy is one step away from total gun control. The American people should be very wary of this. A Nation should not fear its Government rather the Government should fear its citizens, in that the politicians remain, as they should our servants!

Answer: There is a bill in the House right now. Although not actively being debated, I expect it to come up again before summer. It will indeed ban the import, manufacture and sale of certain types of assault weapons and accessories. It is not a done deal yet but many expect it. When it does come to the floor, you will see "assault weapons", magazines and ammo flying off the shelves. Most of the major manufactures (Bushmaster, DPMS, Stag, Doublestar, etc.) are working on back order and that is keeping the prices up in many areas. When the new bill is finally brought up, prices will spike again. If the bill is passed (likely) then the rifles will indeed become very scarce and very expensive overnight. Right now, however, nothing is certain. One of the reasons everyone is nervous.

I have an AK47 right now, and Id love to get an AR15 someday, but the NRA says that basically thatll never happen if McCain cant beat Barrack Obama. Answer: First of all, the only people reporting that James Holmes had any ties to the Occupy movement are extreme right wing blogs. There is not one, not one legitimate news source that has found any link between Holmes and the Occupy movement. Not even Fox News has reported such allegations. Just blogs like "freedom watch" and other unreliable sources designed to scare the conservative right into thinking that this madman had anything to do with a grass roots movement designed to call out Wall Street for being the underlying cause of a crippling recession. Once again, this is yet another case of the radical right to frighten gun owners into voting for right wing candidates. The population of the U.S. at the time was 4,048 as compared to 313,961,000 today. Since statistics show 1 in 17 Americans suffer from serious mental illness, we can definitely assume there are much more mentally ill Americans today than there were when the Second Amendment was created. Are we really going to continue to put our citizens in harm's way over a two century-old law that bears little to no relevance to today's society? Last but not least, the Second Amendment does not now, nor has it ever, guaranteed Americans the inalienable right to keep and bear arms. In fact, the only way it would do that would be if you removed some of the wording. The words "well regulated" and "militia" are in the first part of the sentence. I don't think the framers had a mentally disturbed college drop-out in mind when they wrote that. If you combine the populations of Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan, Switzerland, Sweden, Denmark and Australia you've got a population roughly the size of the United States. We had 32,000 gun deaths last year and they had 112. Do you think it's because Americans are more homicidal by nature? Or do you think it's because those guys have gun control laws? It's also important to note that while the 12 people Holmes murdered have not yet been buried, while this tragedy is still fresh on the minds of Americans and the families of those victims, and while other victims still cling to life in the hospital as a result from this tragedy, it's probably a good idea and a nice display of humanity not to politicize the event by using it as yet another excuse to tarnish President Obama and to stand up for your gun rights, which have not now nor have they ever been threatened by this administration. What is being reviewed by both republicans and democrats right now are stricter gun control laws and a more thorough background check for anyone attempting to purchase an AR-15 assault rifle and 600 rounds of ammunition, as if the desire to purchase either one of those isn't proof enough that one might be suffering from mental illness. If you're going to use the word "Christian" in your name, you might want to back that up by actually acting Christian instead of trampling on the freshly dead bodies of the worst mass shooting in American history as an excuse to make false claims about your rights being taken away.
