Conn. school gunman equipped to kill all students | CJOnline.com
NEWTOWN, Conn. — The gunman in the Connecticut shooting rampage was carrying an arsenal of hundreds of rounds of especially deadly ammunition — enough to kill just about every student in the school if given enough time, authorities said Sunday, raising the chilling possibility that the ... “I feel like we have to get back to normal, but I don't know if there is normal anymore,” said Kim Camputo, mother of two children, ages 5 and 10, who attend a different school.
Should I got to University of Rochester or Connecticut College?
So Ive been accepted to both colleges and I basically got a full ride to both. I really liked them both and it’s such a difficult decision to make. I visited both schools and heres what I have to say about them:
University of Rochester is a small research university, the campus is a beauty, and the food was mediocre. I went there during November and while others thought it was freezing, I was totally fine with just a hoodie on. I know its cold in Rochester and they receive a hefty amount of snow, but I believe I can handle it although I love warm weather. I know most students at Rochester usually major in some type of science or engineering, but Im not absolute on my major yet. For Rochester, I got accepted into a summer program I have to attend, so Ill be starting college in July meaning Ill be losing about half my summer. I heard its been a great learning experience and meeting new friends before college starts, so it can be beneficial. Rochester is 7 hours away from home compared to Connecticut’s 3 hour ride from home.
Connecticut College is a small liberal arts college, so here we can see classes at both will be different. Conn will have less students in class compared to UoRs classes. Conns campus was very green, another beauty, and their food was great! I was told the weather at Conn was abnormal because one day can be warm and then the next can just be very cold, so its often bipolar. Conn students were very friendly and the loved everything about Conn compared to Rochester students who were more laid back. Lastly I don’t have to start Conn until regular time college starts, so I won’t be losing my summer.
I’m so mixed up with feelings because I see the pros and cons of each option and I loved them both so much. If you guys have anything else to say about both colleges, please feel free to add!
Answer: "I know most students at Rochester usually major in some type of science or engineering"
That's not true for U of Rochester. Perhaps you're thinking of Rochester Institute of Technology.
Both schools are problematic, but for different reasons:
U of Rochester gets an "F" rating from the ACTA Education Foundation for the school's total lack of requirements for "comprehensive general education." Students can drift through U of Rochester and never absorb any learning of lasting significance. On the other hand, U of Rochester offers a great education for serious students who seek out good classes in the seven areas of broad college education.
Connecticut College does slightly better according to ACTA, which rates the school "D" (still below adequate). Connecticut College's problem is that students there get overwhelming indoctrination in leftist/liberal thinking. Connecticut College is obsessed with "diversity" and active insistent promotion of gay/lesbianism. There is a "Center for the Comparative Study of Race and Ethnicity" which vigorously seeks to insert racial/ethnic grievance studies into ordinary Connecticut College courses, so that today it is difficult to get a balanced classical education at this school. The ISI Institute gives Connecticut College a bright Yellow Light — "Caution" .
Connecticut College gets a "Red Light" label from the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education for maintaining secretive speech codes and bias incident policies — for the purpose of stifling non-PC speech.
Connecticut College is an uncomfortable place for conservative, middle-of-the-road, or Christian students — anyone who is not very liberal (and wealthy).

Can I sue my university ?
Normally every student should be cleared by the health department before attending school. But one of them went through the process and attended classes although he was sick. And that s how I got infected by TB.
Can I sue them ?
Connecticut, US
TB test is required for all students before registering for classes
Answer: Sure, you can sue them.
Better question is would you win?
Can you prove that they had a duty to you to test other people?
Did they fail in that duty?
Was that failure the result of negligence on their behalf?
Was your damages (contracting TB) a foreseeable consequence of their negligent action?
Can you prove that you didn't contract it from another source?
Talk to a lawyer in your jurisdiction, and see what they say. Honestly, I think you'll have one hell of an uphill fight, but who knows....maybe it's strict liability duty in Conn.

What are some really good musical theater summer camps?
A summer program accepting incoming high school freshman: preferably only accepted by audition
Answer: I strongly recommend US Performing Arts Camp.
It's probably the best I've ever been in.
They have workshops for acting, musical theatre, dancing, vocals for musical theatre, acting for theatre, acting for television, filmmaking, comedy improv, and the best - Musical Theatre Conservatory and Broadway Conservatory.
The great thing about this camp is that there are several locations to choose from: NYC, UCLA, Pepperdine, Oberlin College, Atlantic Theatre Company, Hampshire C, U of Texas, U Mass, U COnn, U Kentucky, and Washington DC.
The camps last for 1 -3 weeks depending on the course. Tuition includes housing and meals (except for New York NDG Studios wherein you pay an additional 750 or something for housing and meals). It starts from $1000.
You can also take 3 courses on consecutive weeks. For ex, I did acting, voice for musical theatre and acting for the stage. I also did Broadway Conservatory.
http://www.usperformingarts.com/
They accept foreign students.
I highly recommend the UCLA, Pepperdine, NDG Studios in New York City and Washington DC. That's where I went. We had field trips in Washington DC so I got to see the tourist attractions! I was in DC for 4 weeks. 3 weeks for the conservatory and another for voice.
If you go to UCLA you can attend acting, voice and dancing for musical theatre in 3 consecutive weeks or attend the Musical Theatre Conservatory (3 weeks).
There isn't much extra cost since we were provided food and the field trip is free. I occasionally buy sodas and water when I get thirsty. It's very hot in the summer., so it's important to keep yourself hydrated. And you also pay for accomodation on the days in between your courses.
On the days in between camps/courses, you can go out and do touristy stuff =)
And you get a cool shirt after the camp. You also put up a recital/production at the end of the camp.
Just curious, where are you coming from?
Plane ticket is another one of your expenses =)

Conn. school backs off candy punishment
An eighth-grade honors student who was suspended for a day, barred from attending an honors dinner and stripped of his title as class vice president after he was caught with contraband candy in school will get his student council post back, school officials said.
I cant believe they are letting this hoodlum get away with this. Next thing you know, hes going to be selling crack. I think weve seen them all start out this way. They keep wanting harder thing to get the same high.
You with me on this? Lets write to reinstate his punishment. Our prisons are too full and we dont need another one to add to the inmate population, right?
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080313/ap_on_fe_st/odd_skittles_suspension
Answer: They need to send his ass to prison right away. Serve his skinny ass right to be caught with contraband candy. We are definately going to the dogs letting kids get away with this! I agree totally!

Is there something wrong with me if I think that people have an easy life because of where they live (read on)?
Okay, so I am a 17 year old Asian American male who has lived in many countries and many states. For the past 5 years I have had to live in the deep south, a small deep south town where I have been bullied and jumped at times. I have had to hear some of the worst racial slurs out of anyone because of being who I am. I do not know why my parents job brought me here. I always wanted to play football but couldnt because all of the local high school were of poor quality and there is still heavy animosity towards Asian kids there, I tried to convince my parents to let me go to a local high school so they scheduled a visit. In that visit someone threw a stapler in my direction and told me to go back to my own country.
I am currently a senior at a difficult magnet school which is academically competitive. My first 2 years were rough because I had little support from my family and I had extremely bad influences, kids would bother me so I did not get a chance to focus on my GPA.
Right now my GPA is a 3.2 and my SAT score is a 1940. Whenever I see shows like MTV and whenever I watch a channel like CNN, I always think that it is a joke whenever they show the "struggles" of a kid living in New York. I used to live in New York but now I had to spend my high school years in this dump of a state full of racists. Whenever CNN or other TV Channels show how rough life is for kids in NYC and New Jersey, I switch the channel and get mad because I believe that those kids have not had as rough of a life as I have had. I wont even be able to play football because my high school is not allowed to have a program. I missed my chance of playing football and living a regular life, instead I had to live a rough life down south.
As a result of that rough life I get mad at a lot of the kids in NY (new york) and other states appearing on CNN and other channels whining about their situation. I know that if I ever had a chance to live in those states I would be a top student and everything. I get mad whenever I see those kids on TV and CNN and other news channels preaching about their "struggles" because in my view those kids have not gone through half the things I had to go through.
How can I alleviate my situation? How can I quit being so disgruntled?
Answer: I knew 2 people. One was an Asian girl with rich parents, she lived in Connecticut and another was a Black boy from a middle class family, he lived in Georgia. Well the Asian girl was your typical spoiled rich girl, she had her friends clique and everything, her grades and SATs were good, her SAT was good because her parents hired her some tutors and her grades were good because she went to a high school where everyone liked her.
The Black boy went to a difficult magnet school because all of the other schools in his area were plagued with drug dealings and shootings. The kid did not do so hot in high school, he had a 3.0 GPA and a 1050 SAT score (on the old scale of the SAT which only counts math and reading).
So college admissions time came and here were the results
The girl was accepted into Yale, Harvard, Princeton, Cornell, Northwestern, Carnegie Melon, U Conn and University of Pennsylvania.
The boy was accepted into Tuskegee, Georgia State, Hampton and some smaller unknown colleges in Georgia and South Carolina. The guy applied to Yale but was denied admission.
Well the guy ends up going to college, getting a 4.0 GPA and getting a high MCAT score, result? He ends up going to Med school at Harvard.
The girl is still in college and she won't be attending med school or law school. Her GPA is too low, without her parents she does not know what to do and she will be lucky to even graduate, an undergrad from Yale won't get you a six figure job.
Do you see the moral of the story? Resilience conquers all. Struggles are answered with gifts by god.
You had a rough life (any Asian kid growing up in a small deep south town would) and you did not get much compared to other kids, well sometimes you have to get it instead of letting someone hand it to you. Those kids in NY that CNN shows, well the thing is they get more media exposure because they are in NY but thats them. If they want to whine over little struggles, let them, they won't get anywhere in life with their whining. Some kids in NY do truly struggle but the ones shown on CNN are only there for the attention, a lot of them do not have a rough life (I have seen some of them for myself).
Count your blessing. Those kids don't know struggle but you do, so make the best of your situation and thrive off of it. You probably won't get into Harvard or Yale, miracles are in short supply but colleges in the Northeast are not. Go out there and apply, forget being disgruntled. Let the other kids lick their wounds, you should go out there and perform. When you do become someone great in the future, you will thank your situation for it.
As for football, you can always attend a d3 college and walk on to their team. Also if you don't get to play in college you can play in the CFL, USFL and IFL. Those leagues contain people who haven't played football before. If you go to a d3 school you will most likely make the team so what have you got to lose? I hope your situation turns out for the best.
