too bad the students in the classrooms werent armed! Then they could have defended themselves. If there hadnt been gun laws restricting students from having guns at the school, the students could have fought back and protected themselves.
Answer: Yes, their "logic" is to have everyone armed and ready at all times. What a great society that would be, huh?

After the Connecticut school shootings. This should be our wake up call.?
I know the NRA Association is very powerful.
Anyone agree with me we should put a "ban" on assault rifles because in the superb we do not need them? I can understand in the military and the police. But (A hand gun will protect us in case) Those poor children and the teachers that tried to protect them. What was he doing with an assault weapon anyway??? He was only 20 years old. How terrible. I think every teacher should be TRAINED on what to do. There should also be a way to contact every classroom. (intercom).
(There is not record of any psychiatric visits). But i heard his Mom knew there was something wrong with him. And he shot and killed her. What a waste.
I have heard there will be a discussion on what to do???
Answer: It wasn't an assault weapon lol. Only soldiers have them. And it's where you pull the trigger and it continuously fires w/out you pulling it. The gun he had he had to continuously pull the trigger. Banning guns would be stupid. And at my school all the teachers are trained (it's private) and the students have 3 practices every year starting at kindergarten, and they announce over the intercom code red...

Should College student or teacher allowed to bring their gun?
Due to so many school shooting.
Answer: hell YES, "gun-free zones" deny citizens the right to protect themselves from those who threaten them with deadly force. when was the last time you heard about an insane rampage at an NRA convention?

too bad the students in the classrooms werent armed! Then they could have defended themselves. If there hadnt been gun laws restricting students from having guns at the school, the students could have fought back and protected themselves. D@mn liberals.
Answer: Actually, many believe that school teachers should be allowed to carry legally at schools. It is a reasonable logic. If offenders know that several teachers at a given school may be carrying, they are less likely to commit this sort of crime. Making the area gun free clearly didn't work any better.

does anyone have intelligent justifications for gun control? no rude answers...?
i am pro gun, but i want to hear oppsing views. ive become more liberal and i understand that conservative views are too simplistic and was wondering if my view on guns is too simpistic also. the fact that people should own a gun to protect themselves may seem rational, but i am not sure and would like some legitimate facts or intelligent opinions. thanks.
baby, thats what im thinking too.
thanks for the answers so far. my opinion is what is the point of keeping guns away from honest citizens. we know that criminals will always get guns.
Answer: I'm a liberal and don't agree with hunting, but understand some people eat/sell the meat or skins to survive. What I don't understand is why any American would need or want an assault rifle or want one in the hands of an ordinairy citizen. The only purpose they have is to kill people. No one hunts with an assault rifle and no one is going to protect themselves or their home with one either. Therefore, the Assault Rifle Ban should be reinstated.
More guns in the hands of our citizens put Police, Fireman and EMTs/ First-Responders in danger. Guns can be stolen from homes by family, friends or criminals and used to commit crimes such as robbery, rape, or murder, etc. What we need is mandatory background checks for everyone who wishes to purchase a firearm, and mandatory firearm locks with every purchase of a firearm. The gun and the locks will have a corresponding serial number engraved on them. Ideally, every home that had a gun in it would also have a gun safe that would be firmly secured to the floor or wall studs. Should a gun be stolen from someone's home, etc., and used in a crime, the owner must accept a fine, jail time or surrender their remaining guns. As of now, "suspected" terrorists may still purchase firearms. This should never be allowed when our citizens safety is at risk, no matter what the NRA or Bush Admin. say.
Our ForeFathers could never have imagined the firearms of today in the hands of ordinairy citizens. They added the 2nd Amendment because the country was just beginning and they had to fear a tyrannical government (

why is it that liberals wont get that zero tolerance on guns just makes mass shootings more likely to happen?
guns cant be 1000 feet or less near around a school. insane gunman see a gun free zone as a perfect target for a shooting.
33 people died in VA tech masscre before cops came
cops didnt stop the ohio gunman from shooting it took a civilian to get the gunmna to run away
a principle had to run 1000 feet to get his gun then he was able to shoot a gunman.
in the ohio shooting, teachers actually went towards the gunman without a gun! trying to protect the students
dont tell me police will do anything. their only good for paperwork after the killing or the interogation gun usually die from suicide anyways.
if the teachers/deans/principles were allowed to carry a gun they could shoot the gunman before the gun man does damage.
same for college students ( if their 21 or older )
a criminal wont attack a place he know is armed.
who is going to be robbed more: a door with a anti gun gun sign or a door with a NRA member sign?
Answer: Avocado--YOU shut up, abject moron.
His logic is unassailable, if you make it know that there will be no guns in a certain area, THAT'S where these crazies go. When is the last time someone shot up a shooting range, gun show, or other gathering where people all had firearms?
Nobody is shooting up cans of beer, you stupid little gun fearing hack. It's illegal to discharge firearms in many places, schools included. ALREADY. But the kid still did it.
THAT"S the point, you mental midget.

Some facts about Alaska- did you know?
Here are some things you should know about Alaska. Alaska ranks 48th in total population, with just over 628,000 people in the 2004 census. The whole state of Alaska has fewer people than some smaller size American cities, such as Memphis, TN, Charlotte, NC or Columbus OH. Governing Alaska, in terms of the population you are governing, is like being the Mayor of Jacksonville, Florida!
Moreover, Alaska’s 600,000 residents are spread out over 656,000+ square miles, an average of less than one person per square mile. You might as well be governor of Mars or the moon. Alaska’s largest and only real major city is Anchorage, with a population of 275,000, which ranks #65 in United States Cities. The next largest cities in Alaska are Fairbanks and Juneau. With populations of about 30,000 each, they would barely qualify as a small town in most parts of the country.
Alaska has one, that’s right one, congressman to represent the entire state. It is 1/435th of the house of representatives.
Alaska has a sizeable budget of 2.4 billion dollars (2004). In fact, its budget is very sizeable considering how few people live there. Alaska ranks #1 in State spending per capita. That’s correct, on a per resident basis, the state of Alaska spends over $14,000 per year. This is nearly three times what the Pennsylvania state budget spends on each of its residents. It makes you wonder about the fiscal responsibility of the state when they spend so much money per resident. I guess it helps when the governor is standing outside the state capital handing out checks for $1200 each.
So what else do we know about the woman who would be a heartbeat away from the presidency, should John McCain, who is 72 years old, become sick or die in office? We know she has zero foreign policy experience, that she was mayor of a town of 9,000 people and that she apparently used or abused her powers as an elected official to get various people fired or removed from their positions. In terms of political experience, she has served just under two years as Governor of Alaska.
On social issues she is a lifetime NRA member, which can only mean she is opposed to the assault weapon ban, the Brady Bill and other gun legislation enacted to try and protect our citizenry from psycho killers, such as the ones we saw at Columbine or Virginia Tech (32 college students shot dead). I bet you can kill a whole herd of moose with one of those assault weapons. The other social issue she has spoken on is abortion, where she decidedly opposes a woman’s right to choose.
Her husband, who also was her high school sweetheart, works for a petroleum company and her position on global warming is that she does not believe it is the result of burning fossil fuels. She favors drilling in the Alaskan wildlife refuge. While she has not been asked, I am sure she is in favor of giving the oil and gas companies leases for millions of acres of public land as well as off-shore waters. Maybe she thinks global warming will be good for Alaska, which spends most of the year buried under snow and ice.
We don’t know much more about this woman, since John McCain chose her seemingly at the last minute, without even previously meeting her.
Since McCain passed over several much more qualified people (in terms of both political and leadership) for his VP selection, I call into question the man’s judgement. Did John McCain pick Palin because she is best qualified in foreign policy and leadership, to be Vice President of a nation of 300 million people? Or did he pick Palin because she is the most conservative, in order to woo the Republican party base ? Did he put a woman on the ticket to spice up its otherwise stodgy appearance, and try to gain in the "soccer mom" vote that elected Bill Clinton?
If McCain thinks that women will vote for his ticket just because there is a female on his ticket, he is sorely mistaken. This is an insult to the intelligence of progressive and modern American women, who will vote based on who is best qualified to govern and whether the candidate represents them on social and economic issues. Moreover, it is doubtful that many of Hilary Clinton’s supporters will defect and vote for John McCain.
Answer: I think even die-hard republicans are looking at this situation like "whoa what is he thinking"

what it takes to be a good democrat?
What it takes to be a good liberal
1. You have to be against capital
punishment, but support abortion on demand.
2. You have to believe that businesses
create oppression and governments create prosperity.
3. You have to believe that guns in the
hands of law-abiding citizens are more of a threat than nuclear weapons
technology in the hands of Iran, China and North Korea.
4. You have to believe that there was no
art before federal funding.
5. You have to believe that global
temperatures are less affected by cyclical changes in the earths
climate and more affected by soccer moms driving SUVs.
6. You have to believe that gender roles
are artificial, but being homosexual is natural.
7. You have to believe that the AIDS virus
is spread by a lack of federal funding.
8. You have to believe that the same
teacher who cant teach 4th-graders how to read is somehow qualified to
teach those same kids about sex.
9. You have to believe that hunters dont
care about nature, but PETA activists do.
10. You have to believe that self-esteem
is more important than actually doing something to earn it.
11. You have to believe the NRA is bad
because it supports certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is
good because it supports certain parts of the Constitution.
12. You have to believe that taxes are too
low, but ATM fees are too high.
13. You have to believe that Margaret
Sanger and Gloria Steinem are more important to American history than
Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, or Abraham Lincoln.
14. You have to believe that standardized
tests are racist, but racial quotas and set-asides are not.
15. You have to believe that the only
reason socialism hasnt worked anywhere its been tried is because the
right people havent been in charge.
16. You have to believe that homosexual
parades displaying drag queens and transvestites should be
constitutionally protected, and manger scenes at Christmas should be
illegal.
Answer: actually thats not quite right. I am tech. a liberal and I will tell you where you are wrong atleast on my acct.
1. I believe deathrow inmates should be on a conveyor belt, and if you don't know how babies are made by the time you have sex then you probably deserve to be on deathrow.
2. I do believe Giant corporations are killing our society, but only by driving up prices and killing the American farmer and blue collar worker.
3. We should maintain the right to bear arms, but a few shotguns and handguns are probably enough. I don't think anybody really needs a rocket launcher and a dozen handgrenades.
4. Sorry don't agree there. I can see the world as a beautiful place I don't need federal funding to open my eyes.
5. I think there are numerous reasons for this not just an suv.
6. Not sure if I understand your "artifical" roles question. But homosexuality is genetic not choice sorry.
7. Nope, I believe people who are too stupid to use a condom spread AIDS, refer to #1
8. Nope, sorry I think that is for special training only. I don't want somebody who doesnt' know how babies are made to be explaining it to my kids.
9. Again, no sorry hunting is necessary for population control and public safety. Animal Cruelty is not. But if I had to choose between human and animal, it would be human.
10. Nope, but I do believe that the better the self esteem the more likely you are to work hard and earn more.
11. Nope, I do think they are a special interest group and that can be a problem, and as for the ACLU same thing. Anything extreme is an issue.
12. Wrong I beleive both of those things are too high.
13. Nope sorry.
14. Nope, sorry again
15 Nope 0 for 15
16 Nope damn you are really on a roll!
You need to find out what a democrat actually believes in then run your mouth.
The majority of people who "believe" in those things only claim to be "liberal" as a form of rebellion.
They are typically a teen or idealistic college student who has been handed everything and never worked for anything. A summer job is nothing, try working through school and feeding a family.

Is this just the beginning of hostilities, random gunmen, our of work or despaired ,using the gun?
Why all of the killings here in
America?
Answer: The NRA opposed bans on handguns in Washington D.C. and San Francisco, while also supporting the 2007 NICS Improvement Amendments Act (H.R. 2640), which strengthened requirements for background checks for firearm purchases.[48]
The GOA especially took issue with the NRA over a portion of the 2007 "The School Safety And Law Enforcement Improvement Act" known as The NICS Improvement Amendments Act, which they termed the "Veteran's Disarmament Act".[49]
Besides the GOA, other national gun rights groups continue to take a stronger stance than the NRA. Groups such as The Second Amendment Sisters, Second Amendment Foundation, Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership, and the Pink Pistols continue much as they did in the late 20th Century, but new groups have also arisen, such as the Students for Concealed Carry on Campus, which grew largely out of perceived safety-issues with so-called 'Gun-free' zones that are legislatively mandated at many schools, amidst a response to widely publicized school shootings.
Hattie Johnson of Idaho won a bronze medal in shooting at the 2004 Summer Olympics.
In District of Columbia v. Heller, No. 07-290, the United States Supreme Court held that Americans have an individual right under the Second Amendment to possess firearms "for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home". It is an appeal from Parker v. District of Columbia, 478 F.3d 370 (D.C. Cir. 2007), a decision in which the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit became the first federal appeals court in the United States to rule that a firearm ban unconstitutionally infringes the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution, and the second to expressly interpret the Second Amendment as protecting an individual right to possess firearms for private use. The first federal case that interpreted the Second Amendment as protecting an individual right was United States v. Emerson, 270 F.3d 203 (5th Cir. 2001).[50]
According to The Center for Public Integrity, 145 groups are registered as making gun-related filings to lobby Congress, the largest being the National Rifle Association, spending about $1.5 million per year, predominantly through two lobbying firms, the WPP Group and The Federalist Group.[51] Ranked by total filings, gun-rights lobbying exceeded gun-control lobbying by the ratio of approximately 3:1.[52]
Measured in dollars, in 2007, gun rights political spending on lobbying totaled $1,959,407 versus gun control spending of $60,800.[53] The NRA is the largest gun rights lobbying organization in the United States.

The Media Assault on the Second Amendment
http://www.cultureandmediainstitute.org/eoc/2007/pdf/eoc-20070827.pdf
Answer: He doesn't want to ban handguns... what his position on this issue is....
.........................................................................................................
REALITY: OBAMA HAS CONSISTENTLY SUPPORTED COMMON SENSE GUN CONTROL, AS WELL AS THE RIGHTS OF LAW-ABIDING GUN OWNERS
Obama Supported A Package Of Legislation That Would Limit Handgun Sales To One A Month. ''The package closes the Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card loopholes which resulted in the shooting out in Melrose Park. We're eliminating 17 specific assault weapons. There is no reason why anybody should need an assault weapon to protect themselves or their family,' Obama said. 'We're limiting handgun sales to one a month. 'We're calling for handgun registration. It's very hard right now to track whether or not a felon has turned in his weapons or if he has a FOID card because we don't know how many weapons he has purchased.'" [Chicago Defender, 2/20/01]
Obama Voted To Prohibit Multiple Sales Of Handguns Within A 30-Day Period. In 2003, Obama voted to create the offense of unlawful acquisition of handguns, prohibiting the multiple sales of handguns within a 30-day period. In 2000, Obama was co-sponsor of bill prohibiting the transfer of more than one handgun within a 30-day period. The bill exempted federally licensed firearm dealers who purchase handguns in the regular course of business, military, law enforcement officials and certain hunters. [93rd GA, HB 2579, 5/16/03, 3R L; 23-36-0; 91st GA; SB 1614; 2000]
Obama Disagreed With The NRA That "People Should Be Unimpeded And Unregulated On Gun Ownership;" In Favor Of Handgun Registration And Licensing Requirements. Obama said, "I know that the NRA believes people should be unimpeded and unregulated on gun ownership. I disagree. I do not object to the lawful use and ownership of firearms, but I do think it is entirely it appropriate for the state to monitor it. Too many of these guns end up in the hands of criminals even though they were originally purchased by people who did not have a felony. I'll continue to be in favor of handgun law registration requirements and licensing requirements for training." [Chicago Defender, 7/5/01]
Obama: America Has A "Tradition Of Gun Ownership In This Country That Can Be Respected." The Weekly Standard reported, "When a student asks Obama for his views on the Second Amendment, he reminds his audience that he taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago and is thus familiar with the arguments regarding the right to bear arms. He acknowledges 'a tradition of gun ownership in this country that can be respected,' and says that his academic studies convinced him gun ownership 'is an individual right and not just the right of a militia.' But he was not finished. 'Like all rights, though, they are constrained by the needs and the rights of the community.' Obama then spoke of 34 students who were killed on the streets of Chicago and called for sensible gun control to prevent senseless death. He speaks of the importance of parental involvement in education before listing the many ways in which he would expand the role of the federal government in the schools." [Weekly Standard, 12/17/07]

What Is GOP NRA Gun-cult Solution To School Shooting Epidemic?
I mean besides praying and flying your flags at half-mast after a bunch of kids have been shot to death and maimed, I dont see you people (who dont allow email contact BTW) offer any ideas what to do about the growing cult of school-yard mass murder.
I mean here are young people conveniently packed into schoolrooms easier than shootin; fish in a barrel and plenty of people are willing and able to get guns and do it.
So whatya say, besides getting out your bible and waving your flag what would you do about it?
Answer: I could argue you could save more lives by banning foreign students. The (9/11 attack was carried out by people on student visias. The Bosnian mall shooter in Salt Lake City was a student (they don't mention him because he didn't rack up as high a count before a legally armed citizen stopped him, gun control people like to ignore events where legally armed citizens stop crime). In Isreal school faculty/staff can legally carry arms, and they have no school shootings. VT successfully challenged a legal concealed carry permit holder in court over a year ago saying their campus would be safer without firearms, and a state law to protect teh second ammendment rights were defeated. but that sentiment didn't stop a repeatedly accused stalker, an arsonist who was in declared need of mental help. It didn't even get him a criminal record, without which, no one would know he was a criminal when tehy did a background check. The columbine nuts likewise were no mystery, the mystery was, likewise, why nobody did anything to prevent their attack. When you see a problem you deal with it, you don't ignore it and hope for a miracle toc hange things for you. That attitude isn't what built this country, but that ignorance is what will destroy it.

What exactly are Ron Pauls ideas and ideals?
I would like to find out a bit more about where he stands on issues.
What are his stances on social security reform, abortion and environmental issues?
Btw, thank you for everyones input so far. I like to get points-of-view from his supporters as well as his "haters". :-)
Oh, and does anyone know where he stands on gun control?
Answer: He is a strict constitutionalist who has a 20 year record that is absolutely predictable voting by the Constitution and against special interests. He is a noninterventionist in foreign policy, but NOT an isolationist as he believes in trade and friendship and diplomacy. He is a fiscal conservative who believes large government is at the expense of individual liberty. He is a student of economic theory and saw the economic crash coming as the Keynsian economists did not. He is currently pushing an audit of the Federal Reserve which has too much power to be as insulated from transparency as it is, and wants sound, hard monetary policy to keep inflationary bubbles from occuring.
I don't know where to start. he is very strong on civil liberties and very principled. He voted against the Iraq war, against the Patriot Act and against FISA. He is against any and all regulation of the internet. What issues interest you?
Regarding the person above, as a Constitutionalist, he believes in the 10th amendment limitations on the federal goverment in favor of state action and powers.
-
moose, retch? Because he personally is against abortion, as a OB GYN? Since he doesnt feel that is a federal issue but a state issue, how is it relevant? And he doesn't think marriage should be regulated by government, and thinks it certainly shouldn't be regulated by the federal government. What are you talking about?
Here's one of his supporter created videos from his recent campaign, with 1,751,794 views. Youtube is a good place to research him, actually.

Social Security reform- this goes with his foreign policy because he is a strict fiscal conservative. Since social security was paid into and raided by government, he would cut the empire costs (intervention abroad) and fund social security for those with vested interests here then let the kids out to put their money where it will be there for them when they retire. He would also create hard money which means inflation would end (ok, in a real world with a real congress, would be much more minimal) so the chance of being able to actually cover retirement would be much better.
Abortion - and here is where it is important to realize he is a Constitutionalist and not all libertarians consider him a pure libertarian.... he is against abortion. When he was an intern in a charity hospital right out of medical school he walked in during an abortion procedure and the doctor put the baby into a bucket where it proceded to gasp and choke itself to death while everyone pretended it wasn't there. The way he puts it is that this was before they were 'sophisticated enough to make sure the baby wasn't alive' when it came out. That would stick with anyone, I think.
In any event, every year he DOES introduce a bill to overturn Roe v Wade because it was bad law, frankly, and usurps state law under the Constitution. However, it hasn't had success worth discussing. His point is that since the case turned on judicial notice of when life begins, and since in actuallity that is a very disputed fact, the federal government should not be usurping state rights to protect its citizens (the baby, here.)
--environment, he is against cap and trade (but that is actually bad for the environment because it would send jobs and industry to countries where the industry would actually pollute more than it does here.) He thinks the primary environmental law should be to enforce tresspass and property claims against pollutors who pollute the property of others. However, again, states have more jurisdiction than federal government does.
Gun control. "Congress shall pass no law ...."
he thinks it means what it says. The NRA graded him DOWN because he voted against a bill compromise they supported, but it required trigger locks which he thinks are unconstitutional requirements.
He thinks if the airlines had been able to have armed guards as armoured trucks do, 9/11 might never had happened. He notes that shooting sprees happen in no gun zones like schools, not on military bases or at gun shows.
The federal constitution limits the federal government because individuals in their diversity are best represented at the most local possible level, and he would keep representation and decisionmaking as local as the Constitution requires.

NRA Calls for Armed Police in Every School, Blames Media as ...
Publicly addressing the media for the first time since last week's horrific elementary school shooting in Newtown, Conn., NRA Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre said the question is “how do we protect our children right now, starting today, in a way that we know works?” “The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun,” he said. “Would you rather have your 911 call bring a good guy with a gun from a mile away, or a minute away?” ...
Are these gun-toting NRA inbreds completely nuts? This isnt the 1800s and this aint the wild west!!?
We are never going to live in a soceity where it is OK to carry loaded firearms around with you! This nonsense about "if the other students were armed they could of blah blah blah..." what a load of BS!!
Get rid of these damn weapons, ban the handguns, and the damn automatic rifles! Get rid of them, we need safe schools more than we need your inflated sense of worth.
You should all be proud of yourselves, your inaction causes tragedies like this one to occur.
2nd amendment rights, is that why I am allowed to own a nuclear bomb? Or a tank? How about some hand grenades? Nope I cant own any of those things, and they all fall under the umbrella term "arms".
Why is there a disconnect between an anthrax letter and a semi-automatic pistol? Both can kill you, but one is banned and the other is easily available at your local sporting goods store!
I wonder how many more Virginia Techs and Columbines its going to take before we do something about it.....
Answer: Its amazing how brave people are with a gun in their hand to protect them from their fellow Americans what a safe modern society you live in.
To the man below I live Australia and I don't know where your statistics from but I have never seen a gun except strapped to a police mans side.We have one of the lowest crime rates in the world but if it is growing we can blame the drug Ice and not the lack of guns.

Can I legally wear a "Colt firearms" shirt to school?
Hello YA, im sure in the south this wouldnt be a problem, but I live in liberal ass NJ.
I am a senior in HS, 17 years old. My father is a police officer, and I am on a local junior rifle team. I enjoy safe shooting. My grandpop was a colt firearms dealer before he died, and I bought a colt shirt in honor of him.
I would like to know if its legally ok for me to wear a shirt that simply reads "colt - american firearms" with a horse logo, to a public high school.
legally, is there anything wrong with it? I am honoring my grandpop simply.
thank you for your time, god bless.
Answer: Yes, legally you can, but do you want the hassle these people went through? The liberal gun control bigots are against you exercising your constitutional rights, and will try anything to keep you from exercising your constitutional rights.

Judge rules student can't wear NRA shirt
A federal judge ruled Tuesday that a Jack Jouett Middle School student cannot wear a National Rifle Association T-shirt to school while his civil suit against the Albemarle County school system is pending.
School officials celebrated U.S. District Judge Norman K. Moon's decision, which poked holes in all of the plaintiffs' constitutional arguments.
Moon wrote that Jouett seventh-grader Alan Newsom would not suffer "irreparable harm" by not being allowed to wear the T-shirt, which school officials forced him to turn inside out in April. The shirt bears silhouettes of gunmen and the words "NRA Sports Shooting Camp."
The NRA filed suit against the school system in September, representing Alan and his father, Fred Newsom. Moon heard arguments on the preliminary injunction from the county and the NRA on Oct. 2.
The plaintiffs' case, Moon wrote, is unlikely to succeed on the merits of several constitutional issues, including the freedom of expression protected by the First Amendment.
The suit, which names Albemarle School Board members, superintendent and school principal, will be heard in July.
School Board attorney Mark Trank said the county is weighing its options and may file for a summary judgment, which would end the matter without the judge's hearing the full case.
Moon pointed out weaknesses in the plaintiffs' arguments that Alan Newsom's freedom of speech, due process and equal protection rights were violated. He also stated his support of the school system.
"The Court is in no position to substitute its judgment for that of experienced and seasoned educators in determining what students should be allowed to wear to school," he wrote.
"We were very pleased with it," Trank said Tuesday afternoon of the ruling. "I believe that the court has correctly interpreted the law and the facts as they relate to educators. This is a very positive decision from the judge."
Fred Newsom said he and his son have not ruled out an appeal, which must be filed in the next 30 days.
