Obama urges Congress to ban military-style assault weapons - I4U ...
Obama urges Congress to ban military-style assault weapons ... A day after the administration said he "actively supports" some gun control measures, President ...
Why doesnt Obama listen to his congress,or is it because he is the instigator of this cover up?
Friday, June 03, 2011
Today, 31 U.S. House members -- all Democrats -- wrote to President Barack Obama, urging him to end Administration stonewalling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives "Project Gunrunner," and the "Fast and Furious" program under which border state dealers were encouraged to sell thousands of guns to suspicious buyers.
In the letter, spearheaded by Rep. Jason Altmire, D-Pa., the lawmakers called the investigative tactics "extremely troubling" and found the Justice Departments failure to provide information to congressional investigators "equally troubling." Saying that Americans deserve "prompt and complete answers," the letter concluded with a call for the administration to help "get to the bottom of this serious allegation of federal law enforcement misconduct."
@ HARRY POTTER is the DEVIL. Who says??? OMG man, google it, there is only about 100 hits on this subject.
Answer: At the exact same time Eric Holder and Hillary Clinton were calling for more gun control to prevent guns from America entering Mexico. These people just can't be trusted.

Have strict gun control laws made Mexico safer?
Have strict Mexican gun laws made Mexico a safer place? Is violent crime non-existent now in Mexico since ordinary Mexicans are effectively banned from defensive gun ownership?
Oh sure, if you have plenty of money, time and a lot of patience, you can legally own a gun in Mexico. You first need a legitimate reason to apply for a permission and pay large fees, have an extensive background check, receive permission, then travel to Mexico, D.F. (Mexico City) for a training class of several weeks. Only then you are allowed to purchase one of a few models from the government store in the D.F. The process can take years and cost hundreds of thousands of pesos, with absolutely no certainty that a law-abiding Mexican will be approved to get a gun. In other words, the red tape necessary to get a gun in Mexico has ensured that 99% of the Mexican people cannot legally posses a gun. Those that can, must keep the ammunition, the gun and critical parts of the gun locked in separate places ensuring that they are not available in an emergency.
Under strict gun control, has Mexico become one of the safest places, or one of the most dangerous places on Earth? Also, how has our President Obama and his Attorney General Eric Holder ensured the continued safety and security, by promoting a gun-free Mexico?
Answer: No, that's why Obama and Holder had to sell assault weapons to the drug cartels, because gun control was making it too hard for the cartels to buy guns in Mexico.

Obama wants $500 million to send National Guard to secure the border (prelude to amnesty)
Barack Obama wants Congress to allocate $500 million in order to send up to 1200 National Guard troops to the border.
[The Mexican government had this response:]
Regarding the Administration’s decision to send 1,200 National Guard servicemen to the US Southern border, the Government of Mexico trusts that this decision will help to channel additional US resources to enhance efforts to prevent the illegal flows of weapons and bulk cash into Mexico, which provide organized crime with its firepower and its ability to corrupt...and that it will not, in accordance to its legal obligations, conduct activities directly linked to the enforcement of immigration laws.
President Barack Obama on Tuesday authorized the deployment of up to 1,200 additional troops to border areas but State Department spokesman Philip Crowley told reporters, "It's not about immigration."
He said the move was "fully consistent with our efforts to do our part to stem, you know, violence, to interdict the flow of dangerous people and dangerous goods -- drugs, guns, people."
..."We have explained the president's announcement to the government of Mexico, and they fully understand the rationale behind it," Crowley said.

Why do liberals always want to ban guns and conservatives do not?
Are Liberals just more safety conscious or do you think there is some other motive going on here?
Maybe something the average liberal isnt even conscious of?
Answer: Okay AZ Bacon Product here you are:
Barack Hussein Obama is determined to see the proposed UN Small Arms Treaty ratified. He knows if he doesn't get the job done by 2012, the task will likely fall on the next social progressive president. The left has been talking about global gun control since the 1960s.

In an interview with NRA News, former UN Ambassador John Bolton stated, “the administration is trying to act as though this is really just a treaty about international arms trade between nations, but there’s no doubt…that the real agenda here is domestic firearms control.” He continued, “many of the implications of these negotiations are very much in their domestic application. After the treaty is approved and it comes into force, you will find out that it…requires the Congress to adopt some measure that restricts ownership of firearms. The administration knows it cannot obtain this kind of legislation purely in a domestic context. They will use an international agreement as an excuse to get domestically what they couldn’t otherwise.”

Uber-Liberal, Michela Aliota-Pier is working closely with the San Francisco City Attorneys Office to craft so-called safety legislation" erroneously and deceptively saying it will help defend Americans against crime. As in Chicago the registration law requires a gun ‘Safety Class’ that is unavailable in the city because they too, are illegally against the law.

Mexico also wants to ban guns in the U.S.A.
With Mexico`s president calling for new U.S. gun laws, and international treaties waiting in the wings, this year`s elections may be a turning point for our Right to Keep and Bear Arms.
Mexico`s president, Felipe Calderón, addresses a joint session of Congress.
Wrongly claiming that Mexico`s murder rate has increased since the U.S. "assault weapon" ban expired in 2004, as well as complaining about the number of firearm dealers in the southwestern United States, Calderón urged Congress to reinstate the ban.

Is the white house being dishonest or do they not know the law?
From Newsweek
White House to Push Gun Control
Obama intentionally did not mention gun control in his State of the Union, but aides say that in the next two weeks the administration will unveil a campaign to get Congress to toughen existing laws.
At the beginning of his State of the Union address, President Obama tipped his hat to Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, who’s now recuperating in a Houston medical facility. But throughout the hourlong speech, he never addressed the issue at the core of the Giffords tragedy—gun control—and what lawmakers would, or should, do to reform American firearm-access laws.
That was intentional, according to the White House. An administration official says Obama didn’t mention guns in his speech because of the omnipresent controversy surrounding the Second Amendment and gun control. Tuesday’s speech was designed to be more about the economy and how, as Obama repeated nine times, the U.S. could “win the future.”
But in the next two weeks, the White House will unveil a new gun-control effort in which it will urge Congress to strengthen current laws, which now allow some mentally unstable people, such as alleged Arizona shooter Jared Loughner, to obtain certain assault weapons, in some cases without even a background check.

Why do I ask if theyre being dishonest? Because shortly after the Virginia Tech shootings, Congress passed a law addressing exactly this issue:
Late in 2007: Congress Passes Bill to Stop Mentally Ill From Getting Guns

So I ask again, Is the white house being dishonest or do they not know the law?
Folks, if youll take a close look at the latimes.com link, youll see that the bill Bush signed "A bipartisan bill backed by the Brady Campaign AND the NRA" already addresses the issues the White House is "planning on tackling". We need Enforcement of EXISTING LAWS, Not More Laws. Plain and simple.
Answer: The White House is being dishonest. Here's what you WILL SEE:
> Lying Democrat shit-piles (and no one else) will present a package of "common sense" legislation to "keep guns out of the wrong hands." (by "wrong hands" all Democrats ALWAYS mean YOURS.)
> NOT ONE LINE of the FUNCTIONAL legislation will address felons nor those adjudicated dangerous due to mental illness.
> From top to bottom the ENTIRE package will be designed to balk RESPONSIBLE people arming themselves.

Why are conservatives supporting the right of terrorists to own guns?
Im sure these are the same people who said all liberals were pro-terrorists and see absolutely no contraction between these two positions.
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/05/05/AR2010050505211.html?hpid=topnews
By George W. Bushs standard -- youre either with us or against us in the fight against terrorism -- NRA chief Wayne LaPierre should be just a few frequent-flier miles short of a free ticket to Gitmo right about now. Seems he and the rest of the gun lobby are fighting for terrorists right to buy firearms.
The Bush administration urged Congress to pass a law barring people on the terrorist watch list from buying explosives and guns. The gun lobby objected. Now the Obama administration is urging Congress to pass the same legislation, and the gun lobby continues to object.
On Wednesday, New York Mayor Mike Bloomberg and NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly, using the star power they acquired in the apprehension of the Times Square bomb suspect, came to Capitol Hill to plead for Congress to change the absurdity in the law that keeps those with alleged terrorist ties off airplanes but enables them to legally buy guns and explosives.
The New Yorkers case was strengthened by the news that the Times Square suspect bought a gun in Connecticut as he set his plot in motion and had the gun with him when he drove to the airport Monday.
"At a time when the threat of terrorism is still very real, as we in New York City know all too well," Bloomberg told a Senate committee, "I think its imperative that Congress close this terror gap in our gun laws and close it quickly."
"Failure to do so places this country at even greater risk," seconded the commissioner.
Rep. Peter King (R-N.Y.), who has joined the cause, warned that if a terrorist uses a gun that he buys legally, "there would be blood on our hands."
The hearing, before Joe Liebermans homeland security panel, provided a rare chance for gun-control advocates to take the offensive in a debate that has mostly gone against them in recent years. More broadly, the issue allowed Democrats to exploit the war on terrorism in a way Republicans have been doing for years.
The bill to close the gun loophole isnt on the radar of Democratic leaders, making it unlikely that it will reach the Senate floor. Still, Liebermans hearing was fascinating because it forced the pro-gun crowd to take their philosophy to its logical extreme: Are they so absolute about the Second Amendment that theyd risk national security by fighting for the right of would-be terrorists to own guns? Alarmingly, they are.

The NRA, restating its opposition to the bill a few months ago, said it is all part of a conspiracy by "politicians who hate the Second Amendment" and who "think that more gun owners can be placed on the list over time." At Wednesdays hearing, a representative of the conservative Liberty Coalition made a similar argument: "The bill should be titled the Gun Owners Are Probably All Terrorists Act."
Faced with a choice between conspiracy theories and the testimony of the heroes of Times Square, it was no surprise that pro-gun Republican senators on the committee such as Tom Coburn (Okla.), John McCain (Ariz.) and John Ensign (Nev.) declined to participate in the hearing. Also taking a pass was pro-gun Democrat Jon Tester (Mont.).
Answer: I object since I am a member of a group which has been designated a terrorist threat group, I am a VETERAN OF THE UNITED STATES MILITARY!!!! That's right boys and girls, if you served your country, this administration considers YOU to be a terrorist threat.
Correction, I am a member of TWO groups designated as terroristic, I also own a gun. That's right, you can be stripped of your right to own a gun because you own a gun.
Do you belong to the right, GOVERNMENT APPROVED church? NO!? Then you are a terrorist, no guns for you.
Does someone not like the club you belong to? Too bad, since the club is now considered to be terrorist.
Did you say or post something the government doesn't like? BAM!! you are a terrorist.
You are on the list, the government can now come in and take your guns, no warrant, no probable cause.
Do you hold a medical marijuana card? TERRORIST drug user.
NO appeal, NO due process, NO freedom of speech, NO freedom to assemble, NO freedom of religion, NO right to face your accuser, NO right to a trial.
This bill just puts the Constitution into a chopper to be cut up into toilet paper.

Boss H - For your edification several places have required registration prior to confiscation. I believe Chicago was one of them.
The big choice is; does a person trust the government and register their guns, or keep them unregistered just in case?
Answer: He doesn't respect ANY of our amendments!
Some states are taking measures to protect our gun rights. Like if the gun has never crossed a state line we don't have to register it with the government.
States to Declare Intrastate Sovereignty

State Sovereignty is Starting to Steamroll
From The Constitution Party
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
States Tell Feds: “Back Off!”
Legislatures Cite 10th Amendment In Strong Reminder To D.C.
Lancaster, PA (February 7, 2009) A growing number of state legislatures across the country have put the federal government on notice that the United States Constitution gives states the authority to say: “Thus far and no farther!”
Bills introduced in states, including Washington, Michigan, Montana, New Hampshire, Oklahoma and Arizona, defend state sovereignty as guaranteed by the 10th Amendment to the United States Constitution which states: .... The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the states, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.
The Constitution Party supports and encourages the effort of individual states to re-affirm that the U.S. Constitution explicitly guarantees certain rights cannot be usurped by the federal government. “The state sovereignty movement is picking up steam,” noted Constitution Party National Committee Chairman Jim Clymer. “The duopoly that controls our federal government has gotten out of hand. Republicans and Democrats alike have been guilty of trampling states’ rights for generations. Finally, elected officials in state legislatures across the country are pushing back,” Clymer added.
D.C.’s blatant disregard for the Constitution has raised the hackles of responsible elected state officials. The effort to restore State Sovereignty is gaining momentum.
Several states have tied their State Sovereignty bills to other constitutionally-protected rights including 2nd Amendment gun owners’ rights and the 14th Amendment right to Life. The Montana State Sovereignty bill , authored by Republican State Representative Joel Boniek, sets the stage for a showdown with the federal government over gun owners’ rights.
It invokes the 9th Amendment as well: .... The regulation of intrastate commerce is vested in the states under the 9th and 10th amendments to the United States constitution, particularly if not expressly preempted by federal law. Congress has not expressly preempted state regulation of intrastate commerce pertaining to the manufacture on an intrastate basis of firearms, firearms accessories, and ammunition.
The bill adds a stronger caveat: .... A personal firearm, a firearm accessory, or ammunition that is manufactured commercially or privately in Montana and that remains within the borders of Montana is not subject to federal law or federal regulation, including registration, under the authority of congress to regulate interstate commerce.
In Oklahoma, Republican State Representative Charles Key authored his second state sovereignty bill, HJR 1089 (reintroduced as HJR 1003) using words like “cease and desist.” Key has been a vocal opponent of such overreaching federal dictates as the No Child Left Behind and Real ID Acts for being unconstitutional, state sovereignty-stealing mandates from D.C.. The bill has been referred to the Oklahoma House Rules Committee.
In Missouri, Republican State Representative Cynthia Davis brought the issue of abortion into the State Sovereignty issue with HR 294. The bill (formerly HR 212), states: Missouri's sovereignty (exists) under the Tenth Amendment and (the state) urges the United States Congress to reject the passage of the federal Freedom of Choice Act which prohibits regulations on abortion.
Michigan Republican State Representative Paul Opsommer authored State Sovereignty bill HCR 4 which aims to: … (A)ffirm Michigan’s sovereignty under the Tenth Amendment to the Constitution of the United States and to urge the federal government to halt its practice of imposing mandates upon the states for purposes not enumerated by the Constitution of the United States.
The State Sovereignty statement in Arizona’s HCR 2034 bares its teeth calling for dissolution of the federal government in the event: …(The) President of the United States, the Congress of the United States or any other federal agent or agency declares the Constitution of the United States to be suspended or abolished, if the President or any other federal entity attempts to institute martial law or its equivalent without an official declaration in one or more of the states without the consent of that state or if any federal order attempts to make it unlawful for individual Americans to own firearms or to confiscate firearms, the State of Arizona, when joined by thirty-four of the other fifty states, declares as follows: that the states resume all state powers delegated by the Constitution of the United States and assume total sovereignty; that the states re-ratify and re-establish the present Constitution of the United States as the charter for the formation of a new federal government, to be followed by the election of a new Congress and President
Washington, and New Hampshire similarly put the feds on notice that the United States Constitution and all its amendments are there for a reason - to keep a centralized government from overstepping its bounds and to protect the rights of American citizens.
The Constitution Party encourages Americans across the political spectrum to contact their state representatives and tell them to uphold the Constitution with a 10th Amendment bill for their state!

Clinton "Assault Weapon" Ban?
If Obama did reinstate the Clinton Assault Weapon ban am i correct by saying an ar 15 can not have more than 1 of the following features. A folding or collapsible stock a bayonet lug a pistol grip and a flash suppressor. Also if he did reinstate does that mean everyone throughout the country would have to use a 10 round mag, or 5? I would assume that everyone with a rifle with more than one of the features would be grandfathered, correct? Also what do you think the probability will be of Obama reinstating this law is?
thank you
Answer: i believe a flash suppressor is ok and a pistol grip, but no bayonet lug or folding stock. Under the original ban, a 10 round clip was the maximum, everything is grandfathered. the original ban only prohibited the sale of banned weapons.
the president can't just reinstate the ban. congress has to vote on it. the senate is controlled by democrats, but they aren't all gun grabbers. the big worry is that the vice president has the deciding vote in case of a tie in the senate, joe biden is a notorious antigun idiot. in the house of representatives, the speaker of the house has the tie breaker vote. nancy pelosi is another enemy of the second amendment.
my advice is join the NRA if you aren't already a member, and write, call or email your state senators and congressman to urge them to vote against the assault weapons ban.

Republicans quickly rebuke Mexico’s leader

WASHINGTON — Mexican President Felipe Calderón urged U.S. lawmakers Thursday to restore the countrys controversial assault weapons ban, saying easy American availability of high-powered firearms is contributing to the escalating violence in his country.
Calderón said an increase in drug cartel killings began after Congress lifted the ban in 2004. Today, he said, gangsters point the guns not only at rivals but at Mexican authorities and civilians.
“There is one issue where Mexico needs your cooperation, and that is stopping the flow of assault weapons and other deadly arms across the border,” Calderón told a joint session of Congress.
In a 40-minute speech, he also took pointed exception to Arizonas crackdown on illegal immigrants and urged the United States to work with Mexico to fix a broken immigration system.
The comments brought swift rebuke from House and Senate Republicans, who accused the Mexican president of meddling in U.S. affairs.
“It is inappropriate for President Calderón to lecture Americans on our state and federal laws,” said Sen. John Cornyn, R-Texas. “Moreover, the Second Amendment is not a subject open for diplomatic negotiation, with Mexico or any other nation.”
The assault weapons ban was first approved by Congress and signed into law by President Bill Clinton in 1994. But it came with a political price.
The GOP gained control of the House that year with the help of the gun lobby, which helped defeat several of the laws supporters. Among them was then-Rep. Jack Brooks of Beaumont, who became the longest-serving House Democrat ever to lose a general election.
Texas a pipeline for guns
Calderón acknowledged the political sensitivity of the issue and said he respects the U.S. Constitution and its guarantee that citizens can defend themselves and their nation.
“But believe me, many of these guns are not going to honest American hands,” Calderón said. “Instead, thousands are ending up in the hands of criminals.”
Mexico has seized 75,000 firearms over the past three years, he said, and 80 percent of them were traced to the United States. Some 7,000 gun shops and dealers dot the border from Brownsville, Texas, to San Diego, Calif., Calderón said.
Texas was the state that supplied the most guns and military-grade weapons to Mexican cartels, the San Antonio Express-News reported in 2008. And Houston was the city cited as the No. 1 source for weapons traced from Mexico to the United States, according to a Houston Chronicle series on gun trafficking.
Texas accounted for 41 percent of the guns seized and traced back to the United States, followed by California, at 18 percent, and Arizona, with 10 percent, according to the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.
Call for more action
President Barack Obama said federal agencies now screen all southbound rail traffic to Mexico for weapons and cash. Calderón pleaded with Congress to do more.
Rep. Ciro Rodriguez, D-San Antonio, said the Second Amendment gives law-abiding citizens a bedrock right to bear arms. But dangerous weapons “are winding up in the wrong hands,” he agreed.
“It will take concerted efforts in both countries to crack down on this problem to make weapons difficult for criminals to obtain,” said Rod riguez, whose congressional district includes 785 miles of U.S.-Mexico border.
Ovation for drug war
Calderóns description of his administrations crackdown on drug trafficking brought a standing ovation from Congress, which in 2007 approved $1.3 billion in military and intelligence aid to further it. Obama is seeking $310 million in continued aid for fiscal year 2011, which begins Oct. 1.
“It will take time, it will take money, and unfortunately, to our deep sorrow, human lives as well,” Calderón said as he pledged to continue the fight. “We, the Mexican people, will win.”
Calderón highlighted areas of cooperation between the two nations and Canada to help the hemisphere compete with Asia and Europe.
And he said the problem of migration of workers to the United States is also a problem for Mexico — losing its most dynamic and hardest-working people.
Calderón again urged Congress to tackle immigration reform and pointedly criticized Arizonas new law that sharply increases the role of local and state police in checking immigration status.
“It is a law that not only ignores a reality that cannot be erased by decree but also introduces a terrible idea, using racial profiling as a basis for law enforcement,” he said.
