THE 2004 CAMPAIGN: THE MASSACHUSETTS SENATOR; After 19 Years Voting in Senate, the Kerry of Today Is Far From the Kerry of 1985
When he first entered the Senate, in 1985, John Kerry was a proponent of a nuclear arms freeze and he joined other liberal Democrats in challenging numerous elements of President Ronald Reagans military expansion. He called the build-up unnecessary and said some of the weapons systems were useless. Who should I vote for and why ? I am an Independant voter ! Does my vote REALLY count ? Please Help.?
No smart answers please. I am an Independant voter and I would like to vote. Please dont just say Obama, Clinton, Guiliani, or Romney. In a short sentence, tell me who and the thing they stand for the most. ( whats most important to them )
I just registered to vote, I was asked what I was, Republican, Democrat. I said I was unsure b/c I had different points of views on politics. The nice lady told me that Independant was the way to go.
I need advise from " True Professionals " and the only place to find that is here on Yahoo answers. Thanks for your input.
Answer: I am married to a US citizen, but as a Canadian citizen I have no say in this momentous decision.
But I care. I study the candidates' positions. I pray for those in leadership of the world's last super-power; and I worry about the future of the nation and the world.
The current president, God bless his lame duck administration, has driven the USA into unbearable debt to influence the Middle East.
As you may know, Canada fought in WWII right from the start (when America was neutral) but we refused to follow our USA friends/allies into Viet Nam or Iraq!
Sorry. My wife has relatives in Bagdad and calls my country, that I am very proud of, "Whimps". At least we are in Korea and Afganistan.
Who ever gets elected, including both parties, MUST stop spending crazily, AND find a path to peace. The future of the USA (and all it's friends in the free world) depends on BOTH, or else!!!
I'm worried about the war on terror. It MUST end, BEFORE the bad guys inevitably get a nuclear device the size of an X-Box.
I'm even more worried about America's international indebtedness. Are you going to welch on you debts at the point of a gun? How can you pay???
This is EXACTLY how you brought down the USSR, forcing them to spend themself into the crapper with an arms race.
How can you ever balance the budget while fighting the war on terror? This spending can ruin the economy of the free world!!!
I do not fully trust Hillary, but I bet she would deal with the debt. Bill Clinton fought to control government spending for 8 years, before his successor broke the piggy bank!
I love Obama, but I wish he was in C Rice's job, not the oval office, because he has no experience managing a corporation or a state.
On the Republican side I think McCain is the voice of reason, but I fear he will be too old (about 70) by the end of his second term.
Frankly I don't love any of these options, but I do like Obama (the best talker), Clinton (the one with white house experience), and McCain (the experienced voice of change).
Perhaps an alternative will emmerge from super Tuesday...but I doubt it.
Take your pick...there WILL be change. Guaranteed!
PRAY hard!!!

The Multilevel Marketing of the President
Republicans in Clark County, Ohio, held their annual Lincoln Day fund-raising dinner in February, at a rustic golf club surrounded by an ocean of farmland. What party would I belong to?
I cant vote yet, but Ive been trying to consider what party I would like to register as when I can. Im a politically educated 16 year old so Im not ignorant like a vast amount of people in our country. Id believe in pro-life because I feel if it wasnt intended they should have been more careful. But maybe add a law where youre allowed to have an abortion say a couple weeks after you find out? I dont want to be too harsh and just say deal with it its your fault, but I do frown upon some peoples carelessness. I want to pull our troops out of the middle east as soon as possible because its only making foreign relations crazier. We have done good (no doubt about that) by going there - it was not a complete waste. But I dont want our men and women dying on the battlefield where its not even our problem. I understand though thats extremely hard to do with the Taliban, Al-Qaeda, and other terrorist organizations. Ive read about the big government vs. small government. Does it mean small government has less control? Because I feel that a big central government is what we need. I do not belong to a specific religion but I do believe in a higher power. I dont know why so many people relate christians to republicans because there is a separation between church and state. (I guess its because there are so many christians that are republicans) When it comes to taxes I dont think we should lower the upper class taxes but instead increase the middle class and lower the lower class. I think the middle class makes up most of America so it would make somewhat sense to get most help from the majority of the people. I believe we need more jobs but I think both parties have that in mind. I feel we should crack down on illegal immigration. It does not make sense for illegal immigrants to take jobs away from hard working citizens. If they want to live in America they should be naturalized. Education is key and we should not take money away from that. Kids are the future of our country and I dont think its an amazing idea to cripple our nations future. I do not care so much about the environment. But I wouldnt let factories dump their waste in lakes and rivers either. I believe we should have the right to own guns as long as you are properly licensed. And your license could be revoked if you pulled a Colorado Batman Massacre or something to a bigger or smaller extent. I feel major industries should create more jobs for our people rather people run their own small business. In capitalism its all about survival, and theres no way Mom and Pops store is going to survive against major corporations. Theyd have to increase prices if they wanted to make it which would only deter more customers. I feel that gays should be able to marry. Some people say being gay is a choice but I dont think it is. Homosexuals get so much crap from society why would someone choose to be scrutinized like that? Its like living in the 1800s and choosing to be a slave. It doesnt make sense. If people dont like gays being married then by all means try and get as far away as possible. By doing that it will calm down society and people wont be complaining as much. If I havent said it yet I do believe we should have strong foreign relations and a strong voice in the United Nations. Now thats all I can really think off the top of my head. I understand some of you reading might read a sentence and think its the stupidest thing youve ever heard but I didnt ask this question to be criticized. I just want you to look at my beliefs and compare them to the norms of the democratic and republican parties. I know as a 16 year old I still have much to learn but I just want to know where I stand as of now. Thx for your time!
P.S. Have some maturity and answer my question like an adult. A well-educated adult not an ignorant adult that many adults can be.
